Now that its out - is Sweeny Todd (UK) region free?

Just wondering if Warner has kept with their so-far region free releases with the UK release of Sweeny Todd. I've been really wanting this one and still no US date for it that I'm aware of. Any info would be appreciated. It isn't listed on the imports here yet.

Sony 60GB and 20GB models

I know the hardware list is in beta, but why are the original 60GB and 20GB PS3's not listed, just the newer 40GB and 80GB models. As far as I know, the 80GB is really no different than the 60GB model, though I'm sure they are considered different makes by Sony. You can replace the hard drive yourse...

IRC Chan

I was wondering if the site had an official IRC channel anywhere, or chat of any sort? Might consider a web based client that connects you to an IRC network and autojoins a channel, that way IRC people can use it from their client, and people just used to www could too. In any case, I hang out on EF...

Another (or additional) option could be to just open forums in a new page. Lotsa times a comment makes me wanna check on something, which makes me wanna comment, and so on... Maybe it better this way, keeps my posts down to a ton :P

Yeah I'm afraid with the changing landscape of the formats that maybe this WILL be their first region-coded disc. If I had any way of knowing for sure I'd pre-order. Luckily I work at a second run movie theater and we just got it yesterday, so I'm going to work after they close and at least watch it...

Yeah I knew about the cores, I didn't know a core could be anything but 1.5mbps 5.1 though, but that makes sense. The fact that the box goes one way and the menu another is weird though. So does this mean that when I convert DTS HD to DTS, it isn't being re-encoded? I've often wondered what to conve...

Yeah from what I understand the picture-in-picture is standard def. Would makes sense as high def would need a lot more decoding and more expensive hardware, not to mention that if you are using picture-in-picture, it is never taking up more lines than standard. If you don't have a 1.1 player, most ...

Good price on used discs at Gamestop.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that while Gamestop charges $17.99 for a used Blu-ray or HD-DVD, they are buy 2 get 2 free. If you have an EB edge card there's another 10% off that (affects all used purchases and trade-ins). They don't give squat for them if you trade them in, but I've beefed up m...

UK Sweeny Todd region free?

I was wondering if anyone knew if the upcoming Blu-ray of Sweeney Todd in the UK will be region coded. It was going to be on HD-DVD in US, but that release is canceled now with no US date that I'm aware of. If we can't be sure till it ships, would someone post as soon as they do know one way or the ...

Does the box usually mention the region, and if not, will a PS3 tell me that info? Not by mine right now or I'd check. It tells you the codec and on-the-fly video bitrate, maybe it would tell this. I probably don't have any titles without info anyways.

Navigation back to Blu-raystats.com

The main site has a link to the forums, it would be cool if the forums had a direct link back to the main site. Not like I can't hit back a bunch or open a new tab, just rarely think to. No big deal, just would make me use both a little more if hopping back and forth was easier. Maybe the "Blu-...

Just don't group all HD-DVD supporters together. I'm fine with a single format, I just hope quality stays fine. I've had both formats for a while, and saw a more constant standard of quality (and less willingness to use MPEG-2) from HD-DVD. When titles came out for both, they were typically identica...

Yeah I knew about the Star Trek special editions, I'm netflixing season 1 now on HD-DVD. I have been buying up a lot of HD-DVD exclusives since who knows when or if they will see Blu-ray releases, but I figure Star Trek will make it to Blu-ray fairly quickly, especially since afaik they only release...

Yeah I don't have any HD broadcast material, limited budget here. I have my PS3 and my Xbox 360 w/HD-DVD, all my high def material comes from those machines in the form of movies or games. Well the original Xbox has a few 720p and 1080i games but they are so few, I think there was only one game I pl...

Yeah I tracked down Casablanca (HD-DVD only as far as I could see) and 1938's Robin Hood with Errol Flynn (also HD-DVD). Has Blu-Ray seen any pillarboxed 4x3 releases not counting any TV shows? Basically any movie made before the mid 50's.
