7.1 analog

Post by TOOLhead08 »

Is there a difference if you use 7.1 analog vs. HDMI for the audio? Is the analog mainly for people who do not have receivers?

My receiver has 8 chan analog in but is way too old for HDMI.

I would probably tend to use HDMI if I could.

It may be worth checking it out with analog, but I suspect you will get either no difference or a slight preference to HDMI.

If you prefer analog, then use that :D

So the 7.1 analog option is for receivers that do not have HDMI, and that you still need a receiver to get audio. I thought you can just plug the wires from the speakers and you're good to go. Do'h!

Thanks Dave.

Hey Dave,

My S550 is currently connected to my router since it is in my bedroom. If I decide to use the player in the living room, what's the best way to get a wireless connection?

I am not much of a wireless guru, though I think you need a bridge or access point.

IIRC, there were a number of fairly inexpensive options for taking game consoles from wired to wireless - something like that might work.

Or something to make a network printer wireless...

Hope that helps.
