Year of FILM release

It would be nice if the stats listed the year the film/show was originally released for theaters or TV. This would be more useful than knowing how much the film made, though I wouldn't say get rid of any feature, the more, the more useful. But on that note, does anyone know any pre-widescreen era films available on blu-ray (or hd-dvd)? Oldest thing I own is 1956's Forbidden Planet on HD-DVD which is an amazing transfer.
